Registration  - Registration Deadline is April 15, 2017

Registration for all seminars and workshops, housing and meals will done on-line through the Hope College registration site.  A link will be placed on our website (www.mlhguild.org) the morning that registration opens.  A special newsletter will also be sent out with the link.

 

Workshops and Seminars

This year we have eight three-day workshops, two day seminars,  one day seminars, and half day seminars – lectures, hands-on classes, each lasting two hours.  You may sign up for four half day seminar sessions, or a whole day seminar and two half days or a two day seminar.

 

Friday, June 2,2017, the set-up day for the Conference, kicks off the weekend with a Fashion Show followed by a reception. The Conference will continue through Sunday, June 4th, with keynote speaker, Robyn Spady, exhibits, and vendors. The three-day workshops will begin on Monday, June 5, 2017 through Wednesday, June 7, 2017

 

You must be a MLH member to attend the conference and/or workshops.  If you are not a member, you must join MLH in order to register, and you may do this on your registration form.  If your membership has expired you may send the renewal along with your registration. 

 

Housing will be available in Voorhees Hall this year for those attending Conference and Workshops.  Parking lots are available and are free.  Registration is in Voorhees Hall with temporary parking in front while checking in.

Conference Fees:

Conference Fee is $200 which includes two full days of seminars.

Fashion Show - Friday, June 2, 2017 - $20 at time of registration - $25 at the door

 

Housing: 

Voorhees Hall -
With a roommate- $26 per night

No roommate - $42 per night 

 

Conference and Seminar Meals Package - $59.00 

Will include Dinner, Friday, June 2, 2017 Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Saturday, June 3, 2017 and Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Keynote Speaker

Robyn Spady will be our keynote speaker on Saturday, June 3rd, at 7:00 PM in Graves Hall

 

Fashion Show

The Fashion Show kicks off this years conference at 7:00 PM in Graves Hall. Fashion Show tickets will be $20.00 and can be purchased on the registration site.

 

MLH Board Meeting 

Guild representatives, officers, and chairs of committees are expected to attend this meeting, but you all are welcome.  At the Board Meeting you will hear committee reports, discussion on projects and issues involving MLH.  During the year we report back to you through your guild reps and the newsletter, but here you can see firsthand the inner workings of your organization. Our MLH Breakfast Board Meeting is Saturday morning, June 3rd in the Phelps cafeteria, at 7:30 AM.

 

MLH Annual Meeting 

You vote for officers, changes to our by-laws, and hear year end committee reports.  The President and Vice President are up for election this year.  The MLH Annual Meeting is Saturday, June 3rd, at 6:30 PM, in Graves Hall, immediately followed by the Keynote speaker at 7:00 PM.  Awards will be presented for the MLH Exhibits at the end of the Keynote address. 

 

Guild Exhibits

Each MLH participating guild and their members are encouraged to enter the Guild Exhibits (non-juried).  This displays to our audience the extent of the various fiber talents of our members. Those feeling they are not in a guild large enough to participate, or for MLH members not belonging to a local guild, please know there is exhibit space for your entries as well. The theme for the Guild Exhibits this year is Fiber Inspirations!

 

Juried Exhibits

There will be four exhibits judged for prizes:  Fashion, Fashion Accessories, Fiber Art, and Functional Art. 

 

MLH Marketplace   

Yarn, ribbons, fabric, dyes, beads, embellishments, roving, equipment, tools, books, and more are here to tempt you.

Marketplace Hours:

    Friday open for business 2-6

    Saturday open 10-6

    Sunday open 10-2

Hope College will send you an email letting you know that your registration has gone through.  

 

Confirmation letters

Confirmation letters will be mailed out to all registrants with important information regarding parking, your seminar and workshop choices, and roommates.  This letter will be sent out around the first of May.

 

Membership

You must be a member of MLH to attend a workshop or the conference.  You may include your membership dues with your registration form and payment.  

To renew membership or join MLH:

1 year is $20.00      2 years is $37.00

You are encouraged to add $3.00 to your dues payment for the

Learning Grant Fund

 

Housing

All registration activities and housing will be in Voorhees Hall.  Voorhees Hall is set up as individual rooms with single or double occupancy with bathroom facilities down the hall.  It is centrally located to the cafeteria and close to where classes are being housed.  

 

What to Bring

It is suggested you bring a sweater or jacket, a fan, and an extra blanket. You might also want to include hangers, an umbrella, your own pillow, an alarm clock, a light for reading at night, soap and shampoo, and a hair dryer.  Each person will be provided with 2 sheets, 1 pillowcase, 1 pillow, 1 blanket, 2 towels, and 2 washcloths.

 

Overnight Parking 

While at Hope College, please do not park on the streets overnight as this will earn one a parking ticket!  You may park in the parking lot north of 9th Street behind the Martha Miller Building and behind Schapp Science Building, a map of parking lots will be provided.

Check-In Notes:

You will receive your information packet, meal band, plus your room key and building access card.  If you are attending both workshops and conference, you only need to check in once!

 

Conference/Seminar check out is Sunday, June 4, at 1:00 PM

Workshop check out, is Wednesday, June 7 at 1:00 PM

 

Room and Building Access Cards must be returned in the envelopes they were given to you.  There is a $25 fee for each lost card.  A lost envelope for key or access card costs you $1.00.

 

The public is welcome to visit the MLH Exhibits, Vendor Hall, Workshop Walk Around, Board Meetings, and Keynote Address at no charge.  (All other events require a paid admission)

Experience Levels:

Beginner:  Interested. Lacks basic skills

Advanced Beginner:  Some experience with equipment and able to perform basic techniques

Intermediate:  Comfortable with equipment, experienced in a number of techniques

Advanced:  Experienced Weaver/ Fiber Artist:  Comfortable with equipment and techniques.

 

Materials Fee: Will be collected at the start of seminars and workshops.   Please bring the exact change for the fee, or make a check out, in the amount required, payable to the instructor.
