CALL FOR ENTRIES
The Michigan League of Handweavers 2022 Biennial Fiber Show will be held at LowellArts Gallery, Lowell, MI, May 14 through June 25, 2022. Please see the LowellArts website for hours and directions. www.lowellartsmi.org.
Juror: Barbara Bushey has been working in textiles for over 25 years and is currently an art professor at Hillsdale College. Barbara has an extensive educational background. She earned a BS in psychology from the University of Michigan, a BFA and MFA from Eastern Michigan University and a MA in art history from Wayne State University. Barbara’s work has appeared in many juried shows nationally and internationally. She has permanent work in the collections of the White House, the University of Wyoming, Hillsdale College and numerous private collections. Her work has been published in Art/Quilt Magazine and Surface Design Journal. Barbara serves on the board of Fiber Arts Network. She states, “My main interest as an artist is layering. The great complexities of the world seem best explored thru layered constructions. My work seeks to explore what is hidden and what is revealed—whether in a visual, emotional or historical sense. These possibilities attract me visually, rationally and intuitively…I derive much inspiration from the land and water of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and am lucky to share this glorious life with my husband and family.” More information can be found on her website, www.barbarabusheyart.com.
Each exhibiting artist must be a member of the Michigan League of Handweavers. To become a member, visit www.mlhguild.org, click on About Us/Membership and sign up on line using PayPal, or send a $20 check (1 year membership), payable to MLH, to Jennifer Gould, MLH Membership Chair, 435 Woodburn, SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
