MLH 2020 Members Virtual Exhibit:

New Deadline:  September 15

The MLH board and steering committee decided that a virtual exhibit should replace the cancelled 21st Biennial.  The virtual exhibit would be viewed on the MLH website and include both Fiber Art and Functional Fiber of MLH members.  There won't be any jurying or awards.  All members' pieces will be accepted.  Here are the important dates for this new and exciting part of MLH:

The new deadline is September 15 for images and information to be sent to

Members must be current in their membership on or before September 15.  If you are joining as a new member or renewing, please do that before September 15 by going to and click on Membership.  If you prefer to pay by check made payable to MLH, send it to Jennifer Gould at: 435 Woodburn, SW, Byron Center MI 49315.  Please be aware that it needs to arrive by Tuesday, September 15.

Entrants may enter up to 3 pieces, in either or both categories, of Fiber Art and Functional Fiber.  These pieces do not need to be new or within the last 2 years as is usual with the juried biennial.

Take a digital photograph of each piece (and close-up).  This will automatically be in .jpg format. Please DO NOT USE A FLASH.  Turn off the flash option.  It is best to take pictures in natural light.  If you know how to convert the .jpg image into a .tiff, then please send the .tiff formatted image(s).  Email images to with your name, address, phone #, and email address.

You may include one (1) close-up/detail image of each piece you enter.  Again, these are best sent in .tiff format but .jpg will also work.

  • Include the images as ATTACHMENTS to the email, not in a .doc.
  • Include in the email:
    • Title of each piece
    • Dimensions (height x width)
    • Techniques used
    • Materials
    • Photo credit if someone else photographed your work; otherwise you will get credit for the photography.
    • Sale price or, if not for sale, NFS
    • You may also include a short bio (300 words or less) about your weaving/textile life.  Also a paragraph about the technique, materials and inspiration for the piece(s) may be included.

We were inspired by the Australian textile site Make New Again and the set-up they used in showcasing each person's work.  Take a look and imagine your pieces on the MLH website in such a format!

We look forward to seeing your images and information by September 15!
