Louise Giddings

I love making household items as well as garments of my handwoven cloth.  I have been weaving since 1975 and am weaving more now I am retired.  The 2 tie block weave structure was inspired by an article in the Complex Weavers Journal.  The designs were inspired by a guild  challenge to weave 2 towels, 1 for donation to a women’s shelter and 1 to exchange with other guild participants.  The donated towels were to be given to women when they moved into a their own home, hence the house design.  I wove 6 towels in all, and used leftover warp to weave 2 half towels and fabric for the hanging plackets to match 2 of the towels I kept.  These will be Christmas gifts.
